Business Development Coordinator
Create momentum across Datamine's sales pipeline by building relationships, progressing qualified opportunities and helping our sales consultants focus on winning work.
Datamine has championed data, analytics and AI for over 30 years. As organisations across Australia and New Zealand increasingly invest in AI and data-driven decisions, we're looking for a Business Development Coordinator to help create momentum across our sales pipeline. You'll create momentum across our sales pipeline, ensuring qualified opportunities keep moving so our sales team can focus on winning work.
Success in this role isn't about cold calling. It's about building genuine relationships. You'll enjoy picking up the phone, know when to follow up, and take pride in turning qualified opportunities into quality initial briefings.
This is a full-time role based in our Parnell office.
About the role
In this role, you'll coordinate and progress qualified opportunities from initial enquiry through to a meaningful sales conversation, then continue supporting the sales team to keep active opportunities moving. Through proactive follow-up, relationship building and excellent organisation, you'll create momentum across the sales pipeline and help ensure no opportunity goes quiet.
This role suits someone who enjoys working with a high degree of autonomy, takes ownership of outcomes, and enjoys continually improving the way they work to achieve better results.
At Datamine, we’re all individuals. You’ll find no boxes here. In fact, one of our values is “don’t just tick the box!”
No two days look exactly the same, but your work will typically involve:
Qualifying and managing marketing qualified leads (MQLs), referrals and inbound enquiries, ensuring timely follow-up and appropriate prioritisation
Building genuine relationships with prospective clients, earning trust through thoughtful follow-up until they're ready for an initial briefing with the Sales team
Partnering with Marketing and Sales to keep qualified opportunities progressing through the pipeline
Coordinating meetings and workshops that support opportunities throughout the sales process
Supporting the sales team by coordinating initial briefings, preparing for client engagements, following up actions and ensuring active opportunities keep moving.
Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales pipeline information and client interactions in real time
Monitoring pipeline activity and performance metrics, contributing to sales reporting and reviews
Identifying opportunities to improve sales processes, workflows and the overall client experience
You’ll likely thrive in this role if:
You have commercial awareness and understand where effort will have the greatest impact
You’re comfortable managing multiple conversations, priorities and deadlines
You naturally build trust and rapport through genuine curiosity and strong communication
You exercise sound judgement to determine when to persist, when to adapt, and when to pause
You understand that opportunities are often won through thoughtful, consistent follow-up rather than a single interaction
You handle rejection professionally and remain positive after setbacks
You create momentum independently rather than waiting for direction
You’ll fit right in at Datamine if you have:
Around two or more years’ experience in a customer-facing coordination, sales support, account management or business development role
A degree, likely in business, marketing, or related field
Experience working with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred)
Experience communicating with senior business stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Proven ability to proactively progress opportunities through consistent follow-up and relationship management
A proactive, ownership mindset
What Datamine Offers
Competitive salary aligned with experience
A chance to make your mark in a growing business
The opportunity to learn from and work alongside experts in their field
A values-driven organisation where accountability matters more than hierarchy
A supportive environment where you’ll have genuine ownership and your contributions are valued
An opportunity to work with a diverse and talented team
An environment that will allow you to be you and to thrive
A place that celebrates our wins and is on the path of continual learning
An Employee Assistance Program
Subsidised health insurance
Oh, and did we mention, lunch and coffee are on us. It’s always worth reading to the end of the ad!
Please note: applicants must already have valid work rights in New Zealand to be considered for this role.
